How to Update WordPress

From time to time you will see a message at the top of your Dashboard telling you that a new release of WordPress is available. Upgrades are important because a security fix has been released, or there may be useful new functions.

You are responsible for updating your own WordPress site and plugins.

Unless we are currently working on your website, we will not login to your dashboard without your request – so you will be responsible for updating your WordPress site and plugins. If we are completing maintenance for you and notice that there is a new version available, we will automatically update this for you.

All WordPress sites by ink are installed with a weekly backup system, so in most cases there is no worry. With some upgrades there can be conflicts, but in most cases, upgrades are seamless and uneventful. It is recommended to check with your theme to make sure it is compatible with the latest version of WordPress.

If you experience problems after the upgrade, you can always restore your backup and replace the files with ones from your previous version.
