Adding an image to your sidebar

THE HELP! FILES

Below are instructions on how to add an image to your sidebar using a widget – if your website uses the “Simple Image Widget”.

ADDING A IMAGE TO YOUR SIDEBAR USING THE SIMPLE IMAGE WIDGET

wordpress58Simple Image Widget provides an easy method to add an image to your sidebar without needing to know any HTML code. For this example, we are going to add an image widget below the text widget in the sidebar.

  1. Login to your Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets.
  2. Drag the “Image” Widget to the sidebar (or open an existing image widget).
  3. Click the down arrow to the right of the Image Widget to display the widget contents.
  4. Set the Widget Title (Eg. “Playing in the Snow”)
  5. Click the “Choose an Image” button. You will see an uploading screen identical to that used when inserting an image into a web page. Follow the on-screen prompts to choose the image from your computer and upload it or choose it from one of the images already in your Media Library.
  6. Choose which size you would like the image to display (depending on the size of your sidebar)
  7. Click the blue “Save” button.
  8. Click “Close” to close the Widget.

HOW DOES THIS LOOK ON MY WEBSITE?

The below example shows what the “Image” widget could look like. The information shown in the right is the “Sidebar“, which contains 2 widgets (one text widget and one image widget). The text to the left is the page content.
