How to add a photo to your media library

THE HELP! FILES

Sometimes your website theme requires you to add a photo to your Media Library (the place where all the media/images for your website lives) before you can add it to your site. This is common in the case of slideshows – instead of uploading the image directly, you need to upload the image to your media library, and then use the File URL link.

The Media Library Screen allows you to edit, view, and delete Media previously uploaded to your website or blog. Multiple Media objects can be selected for deletion. Search and filtering ability is also provided to allow you to find the desired Media.

  1. Login to your Dashboard
  2. Click “Media
  3. Click “Library” to browse all the images that have been uploaded to your website or blog. Or Click “Add New” to upload a new image to your Media Library.

In this case we are going to add a new image to the media library.

Click Select Files to choose a picture(s) from your computer to upload.

Once the uploading/crunching process has completed, you see the image you have uploaded appear below. Click on the “Edit” button beside your newly uploaded photo.

HOW TO FIND THE URL OF YOUR NEW IMAGE

This will load a page which tells you the File URL for this image. It is very important to copy this entire link – there is usually a scroll, so be sure to make sure you have the entire link selected. It will end in a .jpg, .gif or .png extension.

Eg. The File URL below is http://www.inkdesign.ca/H2O/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/9244_474522775911379_5170722_n.jpg
